Halloween Contest 2014

Our annual Halloween Contest is upon us! Who will have the most creative, creepy, and clever costumes and decorations this year? It could be you!

With weeks to go before Halloween, you’ll have plenty of time to create your Behemothy creation and enter our Halloween contest.

To enter our contest just post a photo of your Behemoth related costumes or decorations in this thread on our forums. Behemoth related games include BattleBlock Theater, Castle Crashers, Alien Hominid, Alien Hominid PDA Games, Super Soviet Missile Mastar, or Dad ‘N Me. You could even do characters based on our Game 4 videos!

On the night of November 3rd this thread will be locked, so get your entries in before we close the contest at 5PM PST. We will review the entries and on November 6th we’ll select three winners in each category: Costumes and Decorations. That means we’re giving out 6 prize packages!

As always, judging will be based on creativity, hilarity and/or spookiness. Prize packages will include a Game 4 Cupcake/Spidaur tee and Behemoth scarf, plus your choice of Alien Hominid HD, Castle Crashers, or BattleBlock Theater game code (if you already own all three games, then you can give it to a friend!).

Meet Dan’s (man’s?) best friend

FeaturePost_WinstonIn BattleBlock Theater, it’s a dog eat dog world with hallways full of conniving cats. Sometimes it feels good knowing that you have a pal to go through those stages together, especially when you get a newly featured cooperative playlist in Furbottom’s Features!

This week, play with a friend (or befriend an enemy for the time being) to play through a new featured playlist. To reward your teamwork, you’ll be given Dan’s best friend–Winston!

Here are the playlists you’ll find in Furbottom’s Features:

XBLA Co-Op Feature:
MegaBlock coop by QuirkyTurky
Difficulty Rating: Easy

Steam Co-Op Feature:
Co-Op Chapter by nanobot
Difficulty Rating: Easy

Of course, if you really don’t play well with others then you can play through the Solo Feature to unlock this canine friend. (If you’ve already finished the Solo Feature then you’ll just need to go in and play a couple levels again to get the unlock). But it’s all up to you now how you want to get your paws on this prisoner!

Winston

Difficulty Rating: Easy

Our definition: A walk in the laser and buzzsaw filled park. Playlists of this difficulty will be a smooth experience full of interesting ideas more so than relentless challenge. These will generally be easier than the original Story mode campaign.

Game 4 at PAX Prime (Recap)

Revealing our new game, currently titled Game 4, during PAX Prime was a series of complicated and stressful adventures that turned out amazingly well. All of this happened weeks leading up to the show, and it was hard for us to keep our giddiness under control.

On top of working on the demo for Game 4, our co-founder & producer, John Baez, led the construction for 12 custom built arcade cabinets that would house our first ever playable demo for the public. (You can find more pictures of the construction in our PAX Prime Album Collection.)

The arcade cabinets were placed together on the show floor to create a magnificent dodecagon! Those who got a chance to play the game got to execute their orders using our nifty lever (which takes the place of the Y button on an Xbox One controller).

The demo lasted about 25-35 minutes on average depending on the player. Despite the long lines, PAX attendees were willing to wait up to 3 hours to play the demo and a lot of people even took the time to give us their feedback on the comment cards we provided! (Thank you to everyone who did!) For those of you who did not get to play, here’s the opening cinematic that players got to see during the demo:

cupcake-01As you may have heard or read in various PAX coverage last week, Game 4 (a working title) will be a fast paced, turn-based co-op adventure where you’ll have a chance to quest & explore, find awesome loot, customize your fighters, and recruit strange species!

And we have even more info for those who are thirsting for more about the game:

-Coming to Xbox One and Steam
-No release date (yet!)
-Deep strategy with simple controls
-The game moves as fast or slow as your own pace
-You can position all of your fighters before you end your turn
-Will Stamper (BattleBlock Theater) returns to the Behemoth universe as the unreliable Game 4 narrator
-Plans for the game: single player, 2 player co-op, and up to 4 players for 2v2

Don’t want to take our word for it? Well, maybe our narrator can change your mind! Here’s the video that played at the end of our PAX demo, which sums up everything we just wrote:

Finally, if you missed our recap video of our PAX experience at Booth 3003, here’s a rad video that our photographer put together:
