BBT Steam Registrations Close Friday

bbtpostreg

This Friday morning, March 21st, we’ll be closing off the registration form for our BattleBlock Theater Steam Closed Beta. We will start reviewing the applicants this week and start sending out acceptance emails so please keep your eye on your inboxes for that golden ticket. You know it’ll be pretty sweet! (Haha, see what we did there?) And for those who still need a bit of persuasion before signing up for the beta, check out our announcement trailer below:

Our tentative start date for Closed Beta of our Windows version of BattleBlock Theater Steam will be next week. A Closed Beta means you’ll need to register to get a beta key, but anyone 13-years-old and up are welcome to sign up!

Read all the rules and sign up here before it’s too late.

For those of you who are curious about other versions of BattleBlock Theater, we’re happy to announce that we are currently working on the Linux version of the game as well, but it will not be ready in time for the beta. The only confirmed version for Steam at this time is for Windows, and once the first PC version is out, we will focus our attention on the Linux version. Until then, don’t get too excited staring at the pot and waiting for the water to boil.

New Arena Feature + Encore by Duckshark

Time to bust out your skills in the arena with a new playlist made by community user super tim2605! Go to the Featured Arena via Community Theater or Furbottom’s Features in BattleBlock Theater.

FeaturePost_DuckSharkAlso out today, we have an encore by special prisoner: Duckshark! This re-release was chosen because of our current trip to Japan for BitSummit. The origin of Duckshark is actually from an earlier trip to Japan for another event. Dan, our fearless leader and art director, took a look at the kanji 両替 and thought that the second Chinese character looked like a duck! Thus the Duckshark was born.

Don’t miss your second chance to get this Duckshark so you can do this:

BattleBlock Theater Coming Soon to PC!

bbtposttop

In the 1970s, the personal computer took off and revolutionized the world. Somewhere in a parallel universe and time, a feline-run theater closed down but was soon visited by voyagers who had lost their way when a huge storm brewed–There was thunder (BOOM) and then there was lightning (BOOM)!

And now in 2014, we’re announcing that Hatty, his friends, and the S.S. Friendship will be colliding with that revolutionary box in your home–the other one…

Watch our announcement trailer below and by the time you’re finished with it, you’ll have one word stuck in your head all day: STEAM!!!

Nothing subliminal about it. BattleBlock Theater is coming soon to Steam and new things are coming with it.

New Features

-Weapon switching! Players can now switch between a primary and secondary weapon in game!

-New Cat Guard enemies throughout Story Mode.

-Steam Workshop integration for sharing user created levels.

-Steam Inventory integration for trading! This allows users to trade and sell weapons, prisoners, gems and yarn via Steam.

-X input, Direct Input, and Keyboard/Mouse support.

BattleBlock Theater Steam (version) is going to manifest moments in your mind you never thought would be possible. Don’t believe us? Try the game yourself before it even makes its official release on Steam.

From March 24, 2014 to March 31, 2014, we’ll be holding a Closed Beta for this upcoming PC edition of our game. A Closed Beta means you’ll need to register to get a beta key, but anyone 13-years-old and up are welcome to sign up!

The Beta start date is of course subject to change. We’re still updating and testing a bunch of items, and in the event something doesn’t feel right we might adjust the beta start. Regardless of this, we encourage you to register now.
