Pink Knight, PAX, PSN Game of the Year

ok no ponies. But other exciting things!

First off, I am happy to announce that Pink Knight Figurines will be available at PAX East!!!

Pink Knight comes with all 4 regular weapons PLUS a special sweet (get it?) lollipop weapon. Like the Barbarian and King Figures, Pink Knight is limited edition, so pick one up at PAX east this weekend! The Behemoth will be at booth #550, with Castle Crashers and brand new BattleBlock Theater demos on our hand made arcade cabinets!! Tom and Dan will be signing 1-3 every day, come say hi!

Did you hear? Thanks to your votes, Castle Crashers won Best Downloadable Game on PS3 in the 2011 PlayStation Network Gamers Choice Awards!

As the winner, Castle Crashers is featured in the Spring Fever promotion on PSN. Through April 12th, it is available at 30% off (50% off for plus subscribers). A really big thank you to everyone who voted. It was a really close race at the end between Castle and a certain pilgrim.. and every vote counted!

see you at PAX east?

Resurrecting the Arcade at PAX East

After experimenting with building our own four player Castle Crashers arcade cabinet we decided to expand on the idea a little. So for PAX East next week we are bringing a total of 5 handmade arcade cabinets with us.

Four of these cabinets will feature a two player BattleBlock Theater setup with the latest build of the game, (which is looking amazing) and the final unit is the original four player Castle Crashers cabinet that started it all. BattleBlock Theater runs off an Xbox 360, while the Castle Crashers cabinet is using a PS3. All of these cabinets are built in-house here in San Diego, and feature a secondary display that rises out of the back of every machine via a remote control. Although the last part about the secondary display is not very relevant, I wanted to emphasize that it was remote controlled and it freaking rises up from the back of the unit like a Phoenix!

So if you’re going to be in Boston March 11-13th please try to come by Booth #550 and say hello. It’s the first time we’re showing all of our games using nothing but arcade cabinets. I’m not saying there is some type of arcade contest going on at PAX this year, but if there was I’m betting we’re currently in 1st place; I’m talking to you Mortal Kombat and NBA Jam!

Storytime with BattleBlock Theater

Greetings!  I bring news of BattleBlock Theater, mysterious and exciting new screenshots of our cinematics, and upcoming Tradeshow information!

In past tradeshows we’ve shown BattleBlock Theater’s Arena modes and Arena modes ONLY,  all while having parts of this really cool Story mode.

We weren’t positive whether Story mode would be ideal at a tradeshow because it isn’t instant battle intensity like Arena mode –  Story mode is much more cooperative and thoughtful.  “Oh, stand over there and do this!” you say to your friend.  “Wait a sec, go this way!” your friend says, and so you try out your theories on navigating the level.   These are the kinds of things that are more tolerated while sitting on the couch than standing in a sea of sweating humans.   Of course,  Story mode still allows you to kick your friend’s butt all over the map in between that precious cooperation.  If you could just stop throwing me into the spikes I’ll let you get us that Gem over there.

Since we’ve found many people to have even more fun working together in BattleBlock Theater it only makes sense to break that out and let you all give it a whirl.

Story mode accommodates the difference between the number of players (1-4 currently).  We will be showing some of the 2 player set.

I am so excited to get this game into your hands.   It looks simple I’m sure, but it is the most complex thing I’ve ever worked on.  The amount of thought we’ve put into it has really paid off.   Please come see our game if you’re around!
