We’ve got BIG news that will make your eyes bug out! We plan on releasing our “Barbarian Makeover” update for Castle Crashers Steam next Wednesday and it’s going to have more barbarians than ever before!!!
That’s right! Our next Castle Crashers Steam Update is on its way. Be sure to mark your calendars for Wednesday, October 14th PST! We’re going to leave the time as a mystery, but we don’t want to keep you totally in the dark so here are the list of changes you can expect from “Barbarian Makeover”:
– New mini game: Back Off Barbarian*
– Uncapped frame rate (FPS)
– Ultra mode: high quality textures
– Updates to UI flow
– Russian language support added
– General bug fixes and improvements
*Our new mini game, Back off Barbarian, will be replacing the current mini game in Castle Crashers Steam edition. If you wish to play All You Can Quaff, then this is your last chance!
For those who earned the Glork achievement for All You Can Quaff before this update goes into effect, the achievement stays on your account but the name of the achievement will change.
The new achievement tied to Back Off Barbarian is called The Final Countdown. If you don’t get the achievement before the update then you’ll need to work for it in Back Off Barbarian! You can unlock this achievement by surviving until the minimum of 2 minutes and 30 seconds in a Back Off Barbarian match.

We’ve talked about several different unit types in Pit People, like Cupcakes & Mushrooms, and we’ve examined their individual abilities. Now, we’re here to talk about how you can enhance those strengths some more and move further than before!
Whether you’re playing solo or cooperatively with another team, each team gets to choose their own hero. And what does a hero do for you? Why, a hero gets to carry heavier equipment, take more damage and move further than the average unit. For instance, Vampire heroes hit harder and cupcake heroes heal longer… it’s pretty awesome!
Normal Stats before becoming a Hero.
Hero Stats with the same equipment: heavy shield, medium-sized sword, and killer ‘stache.
Look at that extra health, potential for damage, and increase in defense! The footprints indicate how many hexes you can move across during battle, so you can see that Horatio can move an extra step when in Hero mode.
This ability to have greater movement across the battle terrain can come in handy, especially when you’ve got some types of terrain that may slow down some fighters or harm them.

Water and caramel slow down some fighters without harm. Lava can also slow down a fighter, but this terrain type will also deal some damage to those fighters passing through or standing in the burning liquid. Then you’ve got spikepits that won’t slow you down, but they sure hurt a lot!
So not only will extra movement help, but those extra HP could keep your hero alive longer than the rest. Think hard before you place your fighter somewhere!
Side note: Remember that Robots and Vampires can actually get past these obstacles with their special abilities! Robots can teleport to the final destination and Vampires can fly over these low obstacles.
Any unit type can be made into a hero! However, you can only have one Hero in your team at a time, so choose wisely!
TL;DR -Making any of your team’s fighters into a Hero will increase that fighter’s stats, abilities, and the distance it can take in one turn. -You can only have one Hero in your team at a time -Certain terrains can slow fighters down and some even harm them
