Way back in the summer of 2003, when we decided we should set up a table in a 10 x 10 booth at Comic Con and see if we could get some traction for our new, unfinished game called Alien Hominid… Photos clockwise from upper left: 1. the Behemoth and Capcom go waaaay back and they never stood a chance. 2. Real live aliens! 3. The Redeemer 4. The Con in 2003, it’s empty! 5. More aliens! 6. Our booth in 2006 – the Con has exploded with fans.
Fast forward to 2017, and a gazillion expos and tradeshows later, and we find ourselves at our 15th consecutive Comic Con. Just like a 15-year-old kid, we are twitchy to try something new and exciting at the show. Sure, that time that Buddy Christ came by, or Conan O’brien* came by or the Wayans Bros. came by was cool, but wouldn’t the Con be more fun with some friends to share the fate of games being exiled to the farthest reaches of the expo hall awesomeness of the whole show with?
So this is what we are going to do. This year you’ll be able to find us again in Hall A at Booth 229 as always but this time with some other familiar faces from the gaming world. We’ve invited some of our good friends to join us and we hope you come visit us at the Behemoth + Friends booth! Have we mentioned that they are our friends? Indeed they are.
We didn’t make any of these games but we love all of them and you will too!
Check out their rad game trailers…because they are rad!
Of course, this extravaganza wouldn’t be a true thing if there weren’t some cool folks from each studio on hand so if you come by the booth, you’ll be able to meet the creators of these rad games! Talk to them, see their lips move, try to discover which is an AI! Or maybe it is one of us Behemoths…we’ll never tell.
In addition to shipping themselves over to San Diego, some of guest devs will also be shipping over t-shirts that we will be selling at the store in our booth! You won’t be able to get these anywhere else (maybe?) so come by before we sell out of everything AGAIN! You can do it!
But wait! That’s not all. In addition to our guest devs, we will have a whole slew of our very own Behemoth arcade cabs, including Pit People, BattleBlock Theater, Back Off Barbarian, and of course Super Soviet Missile Mastar **.
That’s all for today!

* Full disclosure, Conan did come by but he didn’t stop to play our games. But we know he WANTED to…really! We are not making this up.
** SSMM participation subject to the various current world crisis’ because, yeah, that’s a thing now! We will check our back channel to Moscow to see if we can get permission to show it.
Edit: This post was originally published June 20, 2017. We won’t be holding a Pit People tournament at SDCC, but attendees can still experience the new PVP arcade cabinets!
If you’re headed to RTX this weekend, come by our booth (#401) to compete with your fellow Pit People players! We’ll be doing our first ever Pit People PVP Challenge at RTX and anyone can join in for a chance to win rad prizes.
The Rules:
A competitor can play up to three 1v1 rounds for all or nothing!
If a player wins the 1st round, they can keep their Round 1 prize or go “double or nothing” by going into Round 2.
If they win the 2nd battle as well, they can keep Round 1 & 2 prizes OR go into a Final Round for a Cash Prize + prizes from previous rounds!
But if they lose in either Round 2 or 3, the player will walk away with 0 prizes.
TL;DR – Win a round, keep going for even more prizes. Lose a round, lose it all!
So how far will you push yourself in the Pit?
PP PVP Challenge Schedule:
Friday, July 7th – 2:00PM – 5:00PM
Saturday, July 8th – 1:00PM – 4:00PM
Sunday, July 9th – 1:00PM – 4:00PM
To enter, just let one of our Behemoth team members know that you’re there to compete for that day and then you’ll be able to fight in the Pit in a rigorous 1v1 battle!
The Prizes*
1st round prize – 2 Castle Crashers Mini Figurines
2nd round prize – Pit People Plush (1) + Pit People Shirt (1) + 1st round prize
*provided given items are in stock (if we run out, we’ll mail the prizes to the winners!)
Additional Rules
If a player loses after the first round, they no longer qualify for prizes on subsequent attempts that same day, but can keep playing for fun.
Competition is only valid if two human players are available. i.e. no vs ai for prizes.
If a player wins all three rounds and claims cash prize, they are done for that day and can’t compete for prizes anymore (but they can still play for fun!)
Oh, and did we mention that these daily competitions will be held on our newly custom built arcade cabinets!?
We’ll see you at RTX Booth 401 starting this Friday, July 7th!
