Chickens for Thanksgiving

Dear friends,

As Thanksgiving nears we are reminded of the things we are thankful for. Namely you. Yes, YOU.

Thanksgiving isn’t just about being thankful, though; it is also a time to give back and share your harvest with those in need! This has traditionally been done with turkeys but we like chickens way more, so welcome to our Chickens for Thanksgiving event!

Be our friend, feed the world. Follow us on twitter, or “like” our BattleBlock Theater, Alien Hominid, or Castle Crashers pages on facebook.  Until the end of November, for every 4 new friends we get across all of these pages we will sponsor the gift of a chicken to a needy family through Heifer International. Through Heifer’s program the families receiving animal gifts are given training in raising the animals, and are helped to become self-reliant. The families then share some of the offspring of the animals to others in the village, starting the cycle over, and paying it forward in a way that we think is pretty great.

Here is what Heifer International has to say about how awesome chickens are:

A flock of chicks can help families from Cameroon to the Caribbean add nourishing, life-sustaining eggs to their inadequate diets.

The protein in just one egg is a nutritious gift for a hungry child. Protein-packed eggs from even a single chicken can make a life-saving difference.

Heifer helps many hungry families with a starter flock of 10 to 50 chicks. A good hen can lay up to 200 eggs a year – plenty to eat, share or sell. With Heifer recipients’ commitment to pass on the offspring and training, the exponential impact of adding chickens to communities in poverty is truly a model that helps end hunger and poverty.

Because chickens require little space and can thrive on readily available food scraps, families can make money from the birds without spending much. And chickens help control insects and fertilize gardens.

If you personally follow us on all the pages below we will see that a chicken finds its way to a family in need. Please spread the word, as we want to donate a ton of chickens to the world! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

the small print: We do not want chickens to go extinct, and have no idea how many people will become our friends, so we may have to cap this at some point. We’ll update this post if that is happening!

a date, a confession, and toys

A Date

On November 25th, while Americans are passed out in tryptophan comas,  Castle Crashers will arrive on  the PlayStation Network in JAPAN, thus completing our world domination of PS3s!  Its been a long road, but Castle Crashers is now available on both XBLA and PSN WORLDWIDE.  On this day, over 2.2 Million players have experienced the adventure of kissing princesses and beating eachother up!!!   *weeps with joy*

A Confession

I have a confession to make.  Long story short, BattleBlock Theater is becoming so much more than we ever expected.  It feels like no other game out there – there’s a little more r&d than we thought and lots of new ground to break.  This means we will not be releasing in 2010, but the good news is now that we’ve got Castle Crashers out on PSN worldwide, you can expect LOTS more updates on where we are headed with BBT.

A ton of work has gone into this game which feels like no other game!  We’re currently forcing someone to start getting some videos/pictures prepped so we can pass the time quickly together.

TOYS!

New Stuff available on our webstore!  Animal Orb Cell phone charms, New Tee shirt designs, Keychains, a sweet new Skeleton Skate Deck, and of course, the new limited Edition King Figurine!

Thanks for playing!

Hello out there in Behemothtown!

We’d like to thank everyone that has written in to tell us about their experiences playing Castle Crashers on PSN. It makes us really happy to see the game available to so many new players, and we always enjoying hearing from people playing the game for the first time.

Thanks also to those who have brought game issues to our attention over email or in our forums. It seems that one of the songs (when you open a treasure chest) has gone wandering off, and this sometimes results in a weird noise instead. We’ve located the wayward tune and you’ll be jamming to the appropriate treasure grabbing beats in no time.  We’re also working to address a crash that occurs after beating the final boss with 4 players with all players specifically using the default knights. This issue is definitely being addressed, but in the meantime, as long as at least one of your 4 player party is not a default knight, this issue won’t occur. Another thing that we are working on is tweaking the multiplayer settings for improved performance.  Because these issues do not occur in our or Sony’s test environments, this will likely take more time, but thanks to the helpful reports from players we’ve got a lot of information to draw from.

While our indefatigable programmers and Testopia are working on that, Team Tokyo has already arrived in Japan to start getting our booth ready for Tokyo Game Show! If you should find yourself in the magical land of Tokyo  Sept 18th and 19th come visit us at booth #5-N6 of the excitingly named “General Area”.
