PAX East 2013 was definitely a surreal experience this year since we just announced the April 3rd release date for BattleBlock Theater three days before the trade show started. Here’s a recap of events:
We had our busiest Friday ever with tons of press interviews, signings by Tom Fulp, people on the arcade cabinets and super long lines for the shop! After the exhibitor hours ended, we also joined in on the Exhibitor & Press Mixer put on by PAX and kept all the arcade cabs on while playing 90’s hip hop and showing films our big screen.
Saturday, we held our first ever BattleBlock Theater Ball Game Tournament on two of the arcade cabinets. Around 24 pairs played and they all did two versus two with best out of three levels. The tournament was run by BattleBlock Theater level designers, Ryan Horn and Aaron Jungjohann. After two and a half hours of battling, we had our top three pairs! Thanks to everyone who played!
On our final day at PAX East 2013, we had another full day of Castle Crashers and BattleBlock Theater players, plus sold out of a lot of merch (Cat guard bank, dog toy and Bitey Bat hats were gone before Sunday!). We said our goodbyes to everyone shuffling out as the clock hit 6PM. Then we broke down the booth in less than 5 hours (a possible record for us?)!
Whew. What a weekend! And it’s going to be crazy awesome next year with the show being FOUR days long! Until the next trade show, keep checking out our blog for more Behemoth news. Also, check out some of the interviews we did and get more info about BattleBlock Theater:
