Earlier today a story broke about the Japanese Xbox site reporting that Castle Crashers was slated for release at 1800 Microsoft Points. Pricing for this game has not been determined yet. Both The Behemoth and Microsoft are still working together to figure out a reasonable price point. (not 1800 points)
One thing that we would like to point out is that much like a retail store Microsoft is the distributor for all Arcade titles, and therefore sets the final price. The developer can consult on this, but ultimately, pricing is at the discretion of the distributor (Microsoft).

To Binarynova: I am betting the distributor has final say because well they are putting out the game on THEIR system.
They are obviously doing what all money hungry corporations do, they see hype around the game and figure “we should charge more cause more people will buy it.” I honestly think the higher ups at MS do not read the internet.
Really guys? 800 pts? Let’s be a little more realistic here. I’m going to say 1600 pts would be most reasonable for this quality of game and the amount of work you put into it.

i bought penny arcade when it came out and to me, it’s worth it. i’m expecting this game to be between 1200 and 1600 points. i will buy it regardless, but i think that anyone who thinks it should be cheaper doesn’t:
a) understand the value of the newgrounds brand
b) appreciate the time-consuming work of one person hand-drawing every frame of animation
c) appreciate the development, marketing, and planning time that’s gone into the game
d) have enough points banked up to get the game and wants it badly
just my 2 cents (which is about 50 ms points, i think?).
I don’t care as long as it’s under 1400 ms points, I’m not buying more then 1 points card.
Who buys points cards? The points are easier and cheaper to buy from the system and you don’t have to pay sales tax on them. Debit cards are extremely easy to get these days.
@Samphis, sometimes, some store will run promotion and sell cards cheaper than their normal prices.
Anyway, on a different subject, totally not related to Castle Crashers or The Behemoths but I’d love MS to revise their Points system for Canada. Our Dollar has been on par with the US dollars for almost a year now and they still have not adjusted the points/dollars value in Canada. I can now walk in a store and buy a game for the same price as it is in the US (it used to be 10 and even 20$ more before) but I can’t do that with MS points.

if i had a xbox i sure as hell would get it. i mean its better than most retail games that come out this year and its only 20 bucks or even less. if someone complains about that price then he is retarded (or a very very poor person).

A few dollars here, a few dollars there, pretty soon you\’re talking about real money. It\’s a nosedive once you get in the thinking of \"Oh, a few extra dollars won\’t hurt.\" It sends the wrong message, that you will take everything they give like good little sheep and beg for more. If you think MS won\’t take advantage of this, then you\’re a fool. Look at the general price of the games nowadays, you hardly ever see a 400 point game anymore, they charge 800 for CROSSWORD PUZZLES AND SUDOKU. Because they CAN. Because people who don\’t know the way money works BUY THEM.
Plus, like I said before, if The Behemoth plays this right, they could get more than double the sales at 800 than at 1600. This 1800 point rumor could be the best thing that\’s ever happened to them.
Look at all the comments about people and their points cards… those are mostly kids, as most adults at least have a debit card to buy points with.
If it is not 800 points no buy for me, I am not supporting a price increase on Xbox live arcade games, if anyone does thanks for raising prices you stupid lemmings.

then just dont buy overpriced shit games. a sodoku game takes 2 month to make. castle crashers is being developed since 2 or 3 years. they could have just made many crappy games in that time but instead they made one very good game. its just fair that they charge a higher prices for a quality product than for shitty products. quality cars cost more then shitty ones (well except you are getting ripped off but normal people dont buy that stuff then).
and if neither of those three things describe you and you still demand a lower price then i have to say that the term “ass” describes you pretty good.
plus i think that there will be ALOT less retards in online play if they charge 1600 points which makes it automatically even more worth paying that price 😉
