The Debbie Burton Walk

We put together a basket full of Behemoth swag to donate for the Opportunity Drawing at The Debbie Burton Walk. The Debbie Burton Walk is a solidarity walk held in the Lake Murray Community of San Diego, where 100% of the proceeds donated from participants go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Basket Goodies: T-shirt, Pink Knight Figurine, animal orb charms, squeezy chickens and a poster!

The event is taking place on October 23rd, 2011 in San Diego. If you’re in the area and want to check it out, visit www.TheDebbieBertonWalk.com!

There’s more to be featured in an upcoming post after the next Prisoner Update! One last thing…

San Diego Asian Film Festival

If you’re in the San Diego, CA area (or can travel) and want to play some BattleBlock Theater, come visit our booth at the San Diego Asian Film Festival! The festival starts Thursday, October 20 through Friday the 28th. Come experience a wide array of films that you won’t get to see anywhere else, attend the parties, meet new people and talk to us! We will be there from 11 ’til whenever on Friday, Saturday & Sunday (21st-23rd). Be sure to check out www.sdaff.org for more info!

‘Til next post (which is probably tomorrow),

EXTRA LIFE

If you know what this is, props to you. If you don’t, I’ll still give you props because I’ll tell you about it.

Extra Life is an annual event created by Sarcastic Gamer to fundraise money to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals all over the nation. People pledge to play video games for a certain number of hours, and seek sponsors to honor their pledge by donating to the cause.

This year, it will be on Saturday, October 15, 2011. If we raise at least $500 (before Saturday), we’ll have one of our own employees play for 24 hours straight and put a Live Stream up on this blog. If we don’t reach that goal, we’ll play for 2 hours to honor those who have donated (Thanks to those who have already!). We’re raising money to support the kids at Rady Children’s Hospital of San Diego (Facebook | Twitter)!

Please support us by donating to any member of Team Behemoth HERE!!

Kids: Ask your parents if they can donate!

Remember, all donations are tax-deductible, and 100% goes to help children in need. Every bit helps. You can even just link to this post from your Facebook or Twitters to get the word out and that would make us proud ^_____^

Tidbits from IndieCade

How are you fellow Behemothians?

Pretty swell over here! I discovered a little event called IndieCade in Culver City (a city within the city of Los Angeles, CA) this past weekend.

It’s an International Festival of Independent Games that’s focused on games that you wouldn’t see just anywhere. Packed full of game developers with a passion for creation, competitions, conference sessions, demos and general enthusiasts…it’s quite amazing to see everyone come together for the love of gaming.

My conference session highlight would have to be the Iron Game Designer.

Three people were chosen as the Team Captains, and they had to choose members of the audience to join their group. A theme is chosen, materials were given, and lastly comes the secret ingredient! This year, it happened to be BANANAS! Real-time game design requires quick thinking and creativity to make the most out of what you’ve been given. Play testing commenced and laughter ensued! Even the audience got to play games on their own, involving ribbons!

Found this cute little bugger who overheard me talk about Castle Crashers and he said “I LOVE Castle Crashers!!!” Could not resist giving him a shirt (which he quickly put on) and a squeezy chicken that he used as a beard…

Awwwwwwww.

I can’t help but stress how important indie games are. It’s where the energy resonates, the desire to create a game from start to finish through the challenges of the market itself, our personal abilities and resources available. And most importantly, having the hope that all the hard work pays off, that people will like the game after it’s done.

If it weren’t for our fans who appreciated Alien Hominid and Castle Crashers, The Behemoth would not exist. Now that BattleBlock Theater is on our plate, we hope that you’ll continue supporting us through this time!! ^____^
