A few times a week after work I’ve been going over to my friend Alan’s shop to work on the bronze trophies for Castle Crashers. Things have been going realy well since we quit burning out the plastic figurines and moved to wax models. (More about this huge improvement next week)

Lonely Thundersnap wants to play AH HD

BUT….every night that I’m working on this stuff I keep thinking…wow, although we pioneered giving trophies out for top Alien Hominid HD leaderboards, those trophies were only “genuinely simulated gold”. (Read, metal electroplated plastic.) The trophies are really cool…but nothing beats a real bronze statue now that we have started playing around with them. So…while we are all patiently waiting for the final CC bugs to be crushed and cert to begin, we thought it’d be a good idea to resurrect the Alien Hominid HD Trophy competitions!

Alien Hominid Bronze Trophy

Here are the details-

Real bronze Alien Hominid trophy with your Gamertag engraved on it. There are only going to a few made. You can’t buy these anywhere, you can’t win them anywhere else. First place winners in all catagories will receive the Alien trophy.
We will ONLY be sending out these new trophies for the following Alien Hominid HD leaderboards for July and August (use the rest of June to get warmed up):

Alien Hominid Leaderboard Weekly. Player Match, MEDIUM difficulty (this is a change from the old competition)
PDA Games Leaderboard Monthly, Player Match
Super Soviet Missile Master Monthly, Player Match (Yes! Finally!)

In addition, all winners will receive BOTH a set of figurines and a signed copy of Alien Hominid for the GBA. (Yes, it is true, once upon a time, AH was made for the GBA! It was never released in the US, it was Euro only. But it runs on any GBA and for a GBA game it is a really amazing game. As far as we know, this is a collectors item as it is no longer being manufactured.)

p.s. Back in the day, if you never received your AH trophy if you won one and your gamertag is listed on our website, please ping us again. We want to move them out of the office get them to you. : )

UPDATE: So in competitions will be Ranked Match, not Player Match. SSMM will be high score (furthest distance) b/c there is no player match 🙂 See the Alien Hominid website after July 1 for the full details. Competitions begins July 1. Don’t get too hung up on the release date. Everyone here and at MS are working everyday (and most nights) to get the game out. The game should be released simultaneously in Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, as well as  Australia, NZ, North America and Europe. We’ll see if we should expect anything out of the ordinary and thanks for the heads up.

Finally, when released, Castle will only be on Xbox 360 LIVE arcade for now. You can’t get it in stores!!! So easy!

  1. Cool, I’ve already begun practicing SSMM, first time I started it up, I beat my previous highscore by 2000, not a bad start.

    I might also have a shot at the PDA games, I just know that I don’t have the skill level to get the highscore on the normal campaign…

    I might still try.

  2. This news is a nice surprise; particularly the part about receiving AH trophies that were never sent out…thought the chances of getting my “PDA Games” trophy were long-expired by now.

  5. seriously not knowing the release date doesnt help me. i seriously refresh this page every so often just in hopes of maybe a release date or official point cost was posted.

  8. I better be playing it this summer, because I got other games on the waiting list for my September – December list.
    Also, got that new Guitar Hero for the DS. It’s fun, but man does it cramp your hand badly if you don’t find the “sweet spot” to hold it in.

  10. Well seeing as john said “for cert to begin” I’m going to go out on a limb and say it will be at least september before we get a solid release date. Cert for some games can take 2 months or more in some cases. :[ a july release seemed so tangable.

  11. Could one of the devs please tell me if this is going to get simultaneous release on the Japanese marketplace or not? I really want this game and I’m sick of getting shafted each week, it seems like half or less of the games that come out each week actually come out in Japan 🙁 This is one of my most awaited games this year!

  12. Missle Master… player matches?

    Anyways worked up on my AH skills. Already ranked #1 in the AH Medium for this week… but it’s only sunday.

    Going crazy for Castle Crashers, really hope it comes out before July 22nd or after august 3ish because i’d be on vacation, and i want to stay up until 4AM to download this game right away. i havent done that in over a year!

  14. August Ham MAN…”…thought the chances of getting my “PDA Games” trophy were long-expired by now.” I remember making the films for your trophy base from so long ago! I’d imagine that well have some time after Comic Con to send everything out, so just hang in there. Here’s a question we’ve been mulling over. Should the Hall of Famers be allowed to participate in the new competition? Having you guys sit on your hands would allow other people, perhaps more, to participate. But then not allowing the Hall of Famers participate makes it less of a 100% competition. What do you think? (Oh yeah, someday we’ll pour the Hall of Fame medallions and send you one. As you can guess, we’ve been a bit busy lately)

John, after looking at the pics atop your blog post, specifically the one captioned: “Simulated metal is not as cool as real BRONZE!”, I must say it would be a pretty cruel trick to deny us ‘hall of famers’ the satisfaction of said ‘cooler’ memorabilia (GBA game and AH figurines included). Totally your call…but I must warn you: expect a jar of the Ham MAN’s tears with your name on it — hand-delivered at Comic-con — if you say nay. I don’t cry or anything…but I DO weep (which is MUCH more genuinely emotional); and that would make you a monster ;-b. Deal with THAT guilt!

  20. uhhh no not the right month at all! I thought this game would be out by last year! then they said nooo “sometime” 2008. I don’t care about the added content or all the little knicknacks just release the game already! If it ain’t out by the end of july (which is already rediculous) then I’m saving my 800 pts for schizzoid. I’m sick of waiting.

    Oh man, i was expecting you guys were going to add a new mode for Missle Master with Versus (which i couldnt imagine how it’d work)

    Well, hopefully i can actually get in some ranked PDA games. I always imagined seeing a bunch of drunks playing that game but i can never find a match

  24. who cares! give us a month of relese date! i got xbl 2 years ago so i could download cc. It’s now two years later, and i’ve been tracking cc down since 06. quit working on trophies man they’re cool, but dude just finish working on the game
