Thank you so much to everybody who participated in our art contest! It’s always a treat to look at hundreds of artistic creations of our beloved knights, and you all certainly delivered!

In no particular order, here are the three (3) winners of one (1) Green Knight Figurine (banana not included despite many pleading emails why do you all want a banana from us so badly):
Geoff H.

Dan says: The tunic on this knight with the realistic looking version of that sword is spot-on. Sometimes I like to pretend I designed all these details, and then I have to remember that no, Geoff made these details and man do they deliver. Didn’t stop there, either, and went ahead to draw the Green Princess, too! Look at that extra gear on the side and back. Oh man it almost looks like they could be from a movie!!!
Michael Howe Arts

Dan says: Okay, something about these tall Barbarians gives me some wonderous vibe, one that I haven’t felt since the 80s watching people riding around dinosaurs with lasers attached to them. The Green Knight looks like he doesn’t mess around, and it looks like those bombs are more practical than magic which gets the mind racing, too! I can imagine all of it moving and that cute dino ride suddenly is horrifying! Love it!!
Yotsumii

Dan says: This is probably the cutest faceplate I’ve ever seen on a knight. Let’s not forget they are functionally impossible to lift up, but that’s my fault! Love the colors, love the line weight around the silhouettes, and happy to see the four leaf clovers all over the place. I feel FREE, I feel like a Green Knight with NO enemies in sight! I feel adorable!!!!!!!! Really good values in the lighting on the back of that helmet, too!
Wait, one more thing!
It wouldn’t be a Behemoth art contest without a last-minute, extra set of prizes because we love you all so much but do not possess the power to award the over three hundred submissions we received!

Noodlespark

Dan says: It’s a strange thing, isn’t it, taking a four leaf clover from the inside of a living frog? What do you think this weapon’s stats would be?? I’m thinking some lucky crits!
Dumb’s World

Dan says: There’s something about those eyes, something strange and mysterious. The way this guy looks makes me wonder if I’d want to know him or not. He’s kind of cute but also fairly intimidating at the same time, leading with the sword point and all. Technically he’s alive in the same world as I am, so there’s a chance of us running across one another.
Alejandra

Dan says: Oh I see! Was it the chicken that gave the poison knight his powers? Or did the Green Knight come from the chicken? Did the Green Knight make the chicken? HMMM. I love that this was done on paper. Your craftsmanship is good with no smudges in sight! Better than I could do – I smear stuff all the time
Okay, really, one last thing for real this time:
Because there were so many incredible submissions, Co-founder and Art Director Dan Paladin has hand picked some honorable mentions with accompanying quotes from Dan the Man himself!

MP

Dan says: This was so cozy, I do like to think that the Green Knight gets to relax sometimes between all that fighting. This certainly felt like it’s from an alternate universe, and I really respect that.
Jit Sauce

Dan says: The rendering on this is so modern and hype, along with that really dynamic pose! The skull teeth in the background is also a nice touch. Really nice work, I want to see more from you!
Grace

Dan says: This one’s proportions are so weird to the point that I love it. The eyes are super high where the original design has them very low. An undeniable deliberate hand worked on this, and it can’t help but stand out — It feels like something that might’ve existed in another era!
Caleb

Dan says: This one made me laugh and it’s really cool. So thoughtful it’s undeniable – the lemon proves it extra, just so we could get the sense of scale! Keep it going!!
Vicent

Dan says: I would totally buy a sticker of this or something. It feels legit and has a clean approach! I like the alterations to the outfit, as well as the feeling of super fast motion. Nice job!
Gendermop

Dan says: Something about the hands captivates me here. I think I feel like the Beholder in this one and I love the vibe!
Funni 342

Dan says: I think this one has to be the most on-par with the allergic Green Knight helmet in terms of backstory. So THAT’S why he came home looking like that! Flowery Fields are no joke lol
Jmscelzi

Dan says: I could see this easily being a poster. Good angle, good lines, good action, good colors! Poison is weakest against the swamp enemies but it still works if you use enough of it!!!
doobiebloppy250

Dan says: Why is this so cute? Haha, I love it and the feeling it gives!
Deren

Dan says: This is the #1 best use of St. Patrick’s theme with a Hatty Hattington hat. There’s no denying this. I am glad Herbert is out here joining in parades. I like to think that’s what he’s doing on a regular basis!
Ant C

Dan says: Who sees this and doesn’t notice the lighting? Very bold, and lots of work in the finer details like the rising enemies in the background. The undead demon grabbing the Green Knight is so epic. Lots of love went into this one!
Zowren

Dan says: Oh my gosh this GIF is like I’m re-experiencing the Evil Wizard fight all over again. Getting out of the way of those vertical bolts, turning the tables and seeing his big eyes!!! This is killer and caught our eyes. I can’t wait to see what other things you make in the future, Zowren!
Lucas F

Dan says: Oh man, the style is so cool here. The whole room has custom stuff. I want to know what’s on the Hatty cartridge but I also want to play a pixel version of Castle Crashers, too!!! Meowburt looks so cozy and is one of my favorite details. Bonus points for the Pit People cartridge!
Jesse S

Dan says: I can relate to this so deeply, and the meme reference isn’t lost on me. These guys seem like they both ate half of the sandwich co-op style and are lean powerhouses!
Kerry O

Dan says: When I was looking to redesign the knights in our new Fresh style, I tried a knight head that looked kind of like a skull. This also explores that idea and there’s just something about the way the glare was done here that completely captures my imagination. So awesome!
Stephanie D

Dan says: I really like the rendering with the subtle textures mixed in. I feel like this is something I would have seen growing up somewhere from some kind of cartoon series. Is that what it feels like to have grown up with Castle Crashers? Maybe!!!!
Daniel

Dan says: I’m such a fan of the beautiful armor in here, as well as the XoX troll-face in the background. Super cool style, and I like the health potion on his waist – did you know in the new version of Castle Crashers, potions will be auto-use even if you’re playing alone? This knight is set for another go!!!
Aldwin.Animeart

Dan says: This seems like something that should have existed when I was into playing with ninja toys. It’s like something that would have been competing with TMNT, or maybe even TMNT where Shredder gets fused with one of the turtles?? Great wardrobe choices, the boot design is wicked.
Leon

Dan says: Leon, I also love Castle Crashers and I want to thank you for putting so much work into this mural. That’s probably my favorite seahorse render I’ve seen yet!
Leinad_Arte

Dan says: This ad for Green Knight Poison makes me want to take a whiff, but I still don’t really trust it, if that makes sense! The king’s kind of winning me over, though. Awesome job!
Hallie

Dan says: When I saw this one, I stared at it for a while. Really nice lighting and perspective, clean lines with cool details like the chip along the jaw. Keep on going!
Mike

Dan says: This is really cool and looks totally legit. The blacksmith design along the bottom is super cool, the duckshark face inclusion is killer, and that’s probably the best render of our chicken logo I’ve seen in a while. I want it on my car!
Tom G

Dan says: This is adorable and made me laugh, so I want to thank you for that. I love that the mystique of who is under that helmet remains — even when the Green Knight is a baby! Almost makes me wonder if he’s like the Mandalorians in that sense?
Repinum

Dan says: I tried to figure out what was going on here for the longest time. That one in the lower right is looking straight into my soul, and he’s got this kind of squishy head or something which makes me slightly uncomfortable in a good way! What is that thing receiving the twig in the back, anyway? The beauty is that we’ll never know!! Amazing — AND all four knights are Green! Why are ALL FOUR Green??? I like how you think.
Rest assured, if you emailed in your submission, we ‘ooh-ed’ and ‘ahh-ed’ over it. The amount of eye bleach we needed this time was minimal, and we appreciate that very much, friends! Let’s keep that up!
Also, a hefty personal thank you from the chickens here at The Behemoth studio that got to read the endearing notes that accompanied many of your submissions. It means a lot to have created a game that still sits so strongly in the hearts of the players who help us keep it alive. We’re so excited to share the upcoming Painter Boss Paradise DLC with you and appreciate your patience as we put some extra coats of paint on it before it releases early this Summer!
And if you haven’t wishlisted the DLC yet, it would mean a lot to us if you could take a second to do so:
Now let the art begin! Take a gander at our selection of Green Knight entries below! We posted as many as we could with the behemoth amount of submissions we received!

Hooray! Thanks for reading and perusing our art gallery all the way until the very end. Bonus points to you for art enrichment!
What art contest will we do next? What day of the week is best for picking a four-leaf clover? WHEN EXACTLY IS THE DLC RELEASING?!
Find answers to these questions and more at some point in the future! To be determined. At a later date currently unknown.
(Or is it?)
