Castle Crashers Pricing

Earlier today a story broke about the Japanese Xbox site reporting that Castle Crashers was slated for release at 1800 Microsoft Points. Pricing for this game has not been determined yet. Both The Behemoth and Microsoft are still working together to figure out a reasonable price point. (not 1800 points)

One thing that we would like to point out is that much like a retail store Microsoft is the distributor for all Arcade titles, and therefore sets the final price. The developer can consult on this, but ultimately, pricing is at the discretion of the distributor (Microsoft).

  1. Well, at least you guys talk about it with the people at Microsoft, but what the hell, 1800 points? first time hearing this attempt at a price from a more reputable source then the public taking guesses. Knowing it\’s a lie before knowing what is beforehand is awesome though 😛

  2. OH THANK GOD!!! Even though I would still have gladly payed 1800 points for this game I know many of my friends would not have, mainly for the reason that they would have to buy two 1600 points cards.

  3. although this game is going to be the biggest and the best on the arcade so far, i would reccomend keeping it at the standard 800… its alot easier and cheaper for everybody… while buying 1000 points from the store will leave us the ability to also buy some gamerpics and themes 😀
    i just got geometry wars 2 for 800 points and that was good.

    i wouldnt mind if this was 1200 points but please keep it at 800 points… that way everyone will have it and online will be more fun that way…

  5. I agree with Jimbogreen. It should def. be the standard 800 points. I thought that was how much it was going to be anyway. But if it were 1200, I would still get just cuz you guys are awesome, and alien hominid is the only XBLA game i play with friends, and this looks as though it’s shaping up to be a whole lot more friend friendly, if that makes any sense. but, if it’s 1200, i’d be thoroughly disappointed. more people will buy it if it’s 800, i can GUARANTEE that!

  10. Thats a huge amount of cash. 800 points is a pipe dream, this game has too much content and game play for only 10 bucks. The game has 4 player co-op, 20 levels and frankly, looks freaking awesome. All that effort cost money.

    As for the argument that if its 800 points, more people will buy it. This is true, but The Behemoth needs to pay for all that effort. 1600 is totally reasonable. Thats $20. If every level takes me half an hour, thats 10 hours of game play the first time through. If I play through the game 4 times, thats a quarter an hour.

    If you do the math, the game will be worth what they charge for it.

  14. Well, more copies bought at 800 will more than make up for not-so-many copies at 1200 or 1600, especially with the amount of attention this situation is attracting.

    This could be a PR (and monetary) goldmine if The Behemoth plays it right.

    Think about it.

  18. Hay guyz I would pay ELEVENTY MILLION DOLLARZ for this game because I have no idea how money works!

    Man, comments like that pop up everywhere, and I seriously doubt that they’re made by adults, as adults have to work for their money.

    And before you get to saying that you said nothing about the loans, I know, but I also know damn well that most if not all adults are in debt in some way. I’m currently in debt for a student loan that paid for a course I hated (Graphic Design is definitely not a good schooling choice for the unprepared, the profs eat you alive).

    But still, it’s FIVE dollars, there is never a time when five dollars would ruin a person’s credit because they bought a game with loan money instead of that money for a movie rental and bag of chips.
