E3 2008 and Comic-Con

Our friends over at Gamespot had a chance to check out Castle Crashers yesterday for the first “official” day of E3 2008. They only had enough time to make it through part of the first level, but hey it’s better than nothing.

Some things to point out from the video, that some of you might have questions on:

  • Experience is based on the number of times you actually hit the enemy.
  • CPR — When you’re in a local or multiplayer match and one of your friends gets killed you can go over their body and perform CPR to revive them, and yes it’s pretty awesome.
  • When you level up your character you receive stat points that can go into the four main attributes of the game: Strength, Magic, Defense, Agility. In addition this you unlock more melee combos as you progress to higher levels.

In other news, we have Comic-Con coming up next week and we’re all going pretty crazy trying to get everything ready for the show. It’s going to be a pretty crazy time as our booth keeps getting more intricate and amazing every year. If you’re in the San Diego area on July 24th-27th please come by the San Diego Convention Center and visit us at Booth# 5029. We’ll have Tom Fulp, and Dan Paladin there providing free hugs, seriously just ask they love that stuff.

  1. REALLY Don’t like Microsoft’s planning. Seriously, AH was a HUGE success in comparison to many arcade games, not all, but many. So, thinking that, and know CC is by the SAME PEOPLE, would it make sense to release CC ASAP instead of after an ass-load of crap-tacular/mediocre games? Of course it would, but they are going with the “line up!” rule, first in line, then go down the line.

Since crap games usually get to the line first, expect an ASS-LOAD of crap before we get to the good stuff.

  2. as long as i’m aware “That means it will release prior to September 21, 2008” includes the 17th of September. which was said on the latest post on IGN and is the last possible release date for the game which is same for the braid so i have to take the “release date” info back. which apparently is still summer. Well i keep my hopes kinda high knowing that it is coming out within 75
P.S. sorry for not reading all of the posts.

  3. No worries, a lot of people are at fault for not reading all posts. I for one do it when I know exactly what everyone is/will say, which currently usually is asking for a release date, which we all know these guys do NOT have yet, although the better estimate helps.

Also, just got a sweet new PC Drawing Tablet! Now to color in my pic with it and send it in as fan art (I think it’s funny and quite possible what I drew).

  4. “guys look! I can spin now…”
    5 minutes later
    “Ok watch me spin”
    5 minutes later
“Remember when I could do that spin?”

  5. lol hey momo joystiw ment you could do all that stuff not at level three, but the combos magic and spinny move can be done b4 lvl 3, but nice find!

  6. Reading these previews for CC, I haven\\\’t heard one niggling doubt expressed, or a single complaint or gripe with the gameplay or its content. This game deserves to be huge.

Considering they only revealed Geo2 and Galaga on Monday, I really hope they give CC release priority. If it were to come out in September it will have been in cert for nearly 4 months and that\\\’s nuts, I\\\’m putting my final penny on the 2nd week of August release.

  7. Alien Hominid HD was quite a bit different than Castle Crashers as we had a finished game when we started the XBLA version of it. We primarily just needed to add some additions here and there and tweak some things to make it work for LIVE Arcade. As far as knowing in advance about the release date for AH, we didn’t really know until we got through certification.

    Hope that helps.

  8. oh ok ive seen the orange knights magic jump which looks like he just ate a dozen hot pockets, will you use this in a platforming element?

  9. well, ya Emil, you respond to almost EVERY post we make that asks you or Dan something. Kind of above normal for many developers, because I’ve been to a couple sites where the manager or developers are there, but rarely respond to anything.

You guys rule for staying in touch with the community, and deserve this game out sooner then TBA!
