Breaking Down Backward Compatibility

Larry Hyrb (aka Major Nelson) and FLitz (from Smosh Games) recently came out with a video explaining the Backward Compatibility features for Xbox One. As you’ll see in the video, all of our Xbox 360 titles will be available for Backward Compatibility:

Alien Hominid HD, Castle Crashers, and BattleBlock Theater will all be accessible on Xbox One through Backward Compatibility. If you owned any of these titles on Xbox 360, then they will automatically show up in the “Ready to Install” section on your Xbox One when you sign in with the same gamertag.

The video explains several questions regarding Back Compat, including saves and cross platform online multiplayer. Here are some highlights:

-When playing on Xbox 360, make sure to cloud save so that your saves will transfer over to Xbox One.

-Your Xbox 360 Achievements get transferred and you can continue to unlock achievements when playing on Xbox One.

-You will be able to play online mutliplayer with Xbox 360 players if you’re playing through the Back Compat version on Xbox One.

-You’ll also be able to use all the advanced features in Xbox One, like “record that” or “save screenshot.”

For those who want to see the full list of Back Compat titles, check out the list HERE. If there’s a game you don’t see on the list, you can vote for or submit a game title HERE.
