Game #3 monster concept

Today I post a new animation of a new monster concept for the new Game #3!

This monster is territorial and resembles a raccoon or stag of sorts (Perhaps a distant relative of the Weapons Frog?). Being built as a predator this monster comes equipped with sharp teeth and hind claws. It also comes equipped with a mild case of narcolepsy – so the hunts must remain brief.

Nothing else is known about this monster at this time.

I’ve bounced around a couple names for this guy, but, does anyone out there want to take a stab at it?

  6. I like that critter already — as a light (Yet frequent) sleeper whose enthusiasm knows very strict boundaries, it would fit right in at the foot of my bed!

    Looks like a Masked Woolcat to me.

  9. Some stuff I learnt as a child, though this might help you draw inspiration, Dan.

    “Rakshas” (pronounced as rฤkแนฃasaแธฅ) is the Sanskrit word for a demon, enemies of humans. They are shape shifters and disguise themselves as hybrid beasts of the forest. They come out at twilight and disappear at day break. They also eat the dead. But if this monster is an enemy of the gods it could be called an “Asura” (meaning “not-god like”). They love to piss off the gods on every occasion.

    My other suggestion, which is probably a simpler one is “RanGoon”, which is a combination of Racoon and Goons (Thugs). I also like ENkOde suggestion of ‘NarKoon’

  12. I don’t have a name suggestion, but I do have a question for Dan.

    Is there any chance you could briefly describe your process? Like, do you draw on paper first, and scan in, trace in flash, or do you draw directly into photoshop? How do you preview your animation? Im an artist/animator myself and was wondering how you went about creating that awesome animation.

  17. Well, is this a one-time only creature, or a multiple encounter creature? With that thought, we can determine if he’s more like “The Legendary Black Beast of Arrrggghh!” or a troll.

    For a One-time encounter, he’s definitely a “Horris” in my thoughts, but multiple encounters, maybe something more like an “Arjyll” or a “Straigus”, you know, a name that is weird looking at first but you go “that’s a pretty cool name for a monster”

    • Really Nacry Nomer the coolest name and the best name would be Taysean come on Dan you have to admit Taysean is a baller name. You should at least name one of your creatures or characters that.

      • Oh my god, just shut up about the taysean crap, you’re just pushing it as far as you can, ramming it down everyone’s throat, just because you’re proud of some crappy idea that’s probably your name. Stop saying it’s a baller name, because it’s a frickin’ animal, not some athlete. The more you try to force this crap name onto people, the more people hate you, and the less people want to like (or choose) your ideas. And then you go and tell that Narcy Nomer (which is a GOOD original name) that it isn’t good, and that your retarded idea is actually good. Just shutup. For all of us.

    dercoon or bukcoon. Also maybe along the lines of a Racoose cause of a Caraboose. or a Racoosoon if you wanna get crazy. Feel free to alter or add to if you like, it is YOUR creation after all ๐Ÿ˜›
